Chrysi Aeti

The Annual Folk Dance and Choral Competition, FDF, took place over the MLK JR. Holiday weekend of Jan 14th through 18th 2010 in Downtown San Jose’s Civic Auditoriums. Ascension Cathedral had all five of our Dance Groups attend. Faith, Dance and Fellowship (and lots of fun) were had by all who attended.

Chrysi Aeti, our young adult group directed by Danny Staveris and his administrative assistant, Eirene Georgiou, won Third Place in the Advanced Senior Division for their outstanding performances of suites from Northern Thrace (Nea Monasteri) and Almopia Macedonia.

The dancers of Chrysi Aeti are Alexis Halikis, Andrea Assia, Andrew Kardasis, Anna Fikaris, Chris Retelas, Christos Nikolotsopoulos, Danny Staveris, Denise Damanakis, Dora Karkazis, Eirene Georgiou, Eleni Hopkins, Eliana Apostolou, Evgenia Fkiaras, George Vasilou, George Landis, Juliana Harris, Kiki Fkiaras, Krystina George, Litsa Makris, Melissa Kalbarczyk, Michelle Assia, Nickie Feradouros, Nikoletta Anastasakis, Panos Apostolou, Peter and Tassos Karoutas, Sami and Stacey Dimitriou, Stephanie Pantic, Taki Makris, Vaso Rahimzadeh, Vicki Hiourea, Victoria Gray, Yianni Tzagarakis, and Yianni Liakopoulos.

Ascension’s thriving dance program is due the dedication of all the above dancers, their parents, and the above-mentioned directors. Danny Staveris also deserves kudos as our Executive Dance Director that oversees all of the dance groups as well as Angie Loukos, the Dance Coordinator, and Amy Kotsiomitis, the Assistant Dance Coordinator.
