OAKLAND GREEK FESTIVAL 2012! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!
I want to express my thanks to all of you for a job well done for another very successful Festival. To Sofo Kyriakopedi and Paul Fakaros our festival chairmen and their executive committee, to the booth chairmen and workers, all the ladies and men who helped to prepare the food and our chefs in the kitchen, dancers and performers, the informative school outreach; everyone did an outstanding job.
Over the course of the three days people spoke of the wonderful food, the philoxenia and the friendliness of our community. An older Chinese woman pulled me aside on Saturday to tell me that this was her 40th festival and not only raised her daughter to come to our festival, but had begun to bring her granddaughter. She is named Sophia in honor of our culture! It is wonderful to hear that our efforts touch people. In addition we collected a great deal of food for the Alameda Food Bank with our dollar off program entrance to the festival. It is our way of giving l thanks to the community of Greater Oakland who has supported us all these years.
We should also thank our gracious Lord for the talented individuals as well as the commitment of our Parish leaders to make this such and outstanding event. Thank you for your stewardship of time and talent.
In Christ,
Fr. Tom Zaferes & Fr. Nebojsa Pantic

A couple of Greek Pastries (Glyko), and then a couple of sprints around the dance floor. A savory lamb sandwich followed by a stroll through the rich marketplace (Agora). It’s the Greek way—everything in moderation. A real vacation spent in the midst of authentic Greek culture, simply by coming to the Oakland Hills.
Another Greek word ‘Economia’ means spending wisely. You can enjoy all our tasty Greek treats lovingly prepared with the freshest ingredients, all at affordable prices.
Our families and friends have all come together donating a lot of love, time and ingredients. The result is the world’s tastiest Greek delights that draw so many different people to the Oakland Greek Festival.
We have homemade Baklava, Moussaka and even flaming Saganaki cheese for you to try. Then dance it off with our live Greek bands.
Visit Greece by the Bay just by driving (or running) to the Oakland Hills and park in our multi-level Parking Pavilion. Atop the newly expansive Pavilion on the Platia (Plaza), you will find our famous view of the Bay. It’s the real Greek experience.
We will be open one weekend only, May 14, 15, and 16, 2010. Friday and Saturday 10am–11pm, Sunday 11am–9pm, Admission $6. Free Friday 10am–4pm and Sunday 5pm–9pm. Children under 12 always free. Complimentary shuttle service and additional parking is available.
